1941 Villum Kann Rasmussen at his office in Hammerichsgade in Copenhagen. He has just founded the company V. Kann Rasmussen & Co. specialising in glass roofs.
1942 One of the first adverts for VELUX roof windows, which Villum Kann Rasmussen develops and launches in 1942. The roof window is called VELUX - VE for ventilation and LUX for light.
1946 VELUX Type V is a roof window featuring an entirely new and patented pivot hinge (PV45) that can tilt the zinc-covered frame on its own axis. That makes cleaning the exterior surface of the window much easier.

1968 A new generation of roof windows – GGL – is launched with entirely new features that are hallmarks of roof windows as we know them today: Full-width handle bars, ventilation flaps, pivot hinges with full friction and insulating panes.

2015 A portrait of Lars Kann-Rasmussen, son of Villum Kann Rasmussen, who plays an active role in promoting VELUX roof windows from 1964 until 2010. He then focuses on his chairmanship of the VILLUM FONDEN, from which he retires in 2014.
